Those Vegan Guys might be where you know us from, but it turns out we’re not particularly good at sitting still.
Over the years we’ve been involved in music, writing, performance, drag, theatre, children’s books and all manner of creative adventures. Some of those things existed long before Those Vegan Guys, while others have grown alongside it.
So, if you’ve ever wondered what else Paul & Jason get up to when we’re not cooking, filming, editing or talking about veganism — here’s a little introduction.
The Vegan Queens
Fabulous, vegan and occasionally inappropriate.
The Vegan Queens are Paul & Stuart, best friends and long-time performers who combined their love of drag, music, comedy and vegan activism into something rather fabulous.
What started as another slightly bonkers creative idea became live shows, festival appearances, karaoke, hosting and their own stage at Vegan Camp Out.
At the heart of it, though, it’s always been about the same thing: using entertainment to bring people together, have a bloody good time and — whenever they can — get a little veganism into the conversation too.

Penny The Pigeon Queen
Penny began life in Paul’s imagination after spending time watching the pigeons of Oldham town centre — and eventually became the children’s book Penny The Pigeon Queen.
It’s a story with kindness and compassion at its heart, celebrating one rather special pigeon and reminding younger readers that even the creatures we see every day are individuals worthy of a little consideration.
Written by Paul and beautifully illustrated by Helen Woods Horley, Penny eventually flew from an idea into a properly published children’s book.

Jason Bromley Music
Jason has been making music for considerably longer than Those Vegan Guys has existed.
A singer, songwriter and musician, his work ranges from acoustic and reflective to electronic and dance, with original songs that often draw on life, love, experience and the things that matter to him.
Some of Jason’s music has naturally found its way into our other creative work over the years too — because apparently having separate hobbies would be far too straightforward.

Paul J. Burgess — Writing & Performance
Writing and performing have been part of Paul’s life for decades.
From community theatre and acting to drag, presenting, poetry, prose, plays and books, there has almost always been something being written, rehearsed, performed or created somewhere in the background.
Much of Paul’s writing can now be found here on the website through Writings and Books, while some of his performance history occasionally resurfaces too — usually accompanied by photographic evidence of questionable hairstyles.

Apparently, We Like Making Things
Those Vegan Guys remains a huge part of our lives, but creativity has always taken many forms for both of us.
Some things are serious. Some are silly. Some are both.
But whether it’s a video, a song, a book, a stage show or a bloke dressed as a pigeon queen, apparently making things is just what we do.
